Classic party games for kids
Musical Chairs
Pack out enough chairs so that each child has his/her own chair. Start playing the music, but each time take one chair away. As the music starts, the kids must move around the chairs. As soon as it stops the kids must find a chair and sit down. Each round a child will be out of the game. You can also take two chairs out to give them a scare. Give the child who is out of the game a sweetie. The last two kids wins a prize like a chocolate (to prevent injuries).
Pass the parcel/Hot Potato
This well-known classic birthday party game is a favourite with the younger age-group, although you will need to supervise carefully and it might be too stressful for children under 5 to pass the parcel once they have it!
Treasure Hunt
This is perfect for very young children and, although it can be played indoors, is best in the garden. It is an excellent game to play when the children are beginning to get restless towards the end of the party, and will mean that the children find their own presents for a party bag.
Pin the Tail on The Donkey
Have a cut out of a donkey without a tail. Give each child a tail to pin. One by one, blindfolded, spin the children around until they're a little bit dizzy and let them try and pin the tail on the donkey. The child to pin it closest to where it should be wins a prize
Wipe That Smile Off Your Face!
This is a silly group game which is sure to cause a laugh. It's the hardest to keep a straight face when you know you have to. In the end the kids will burst out laughing by just looking at each others serious faces
How Many Sweets In the Jar?
There is something irresistible about a large jar filled with sweets! Let the kids guess how many sweets is in the jar and the one closest to the real amount, wins it.
Under The Cups
Have three to five cups and put something different underneath each. One of the cups can be empty. Let the kids see what you all have and try and remember under which cup what is. Make sure you have the same coloured cups. Shuffle the cups around and let the kids guess which item us under each cup. The one with the most correct wins a prize.
