Games and Activities for the super heroes to use their special powers
Create a superhero obstacle course for the children to complete. Children can climb through cardboard boxes, jump over boards, go through hula-hoops, pop a villain (a balloon), weave in and out of cones, bust through a cardboard box wall and jump rope. Have each child run the course and time each player. The player with the fastest time wins the race. If you have enough items to make two identical courses, make this a team game. Divide the players into two teams and the team who completes the course first wins the game and gets a special prize.
Catch the Villain
Hide several superhero and villain pairs around the party area. Some examples include Batman and the Joker, Superman and Lex Luthor and Spiderman and the Green Goblin. Hide each character individually and have the children hunt for the character. The first child/team to bring you back a superhero and his villain wins a prize.
Missing Cake Caper
The birthday cake has been stolen by an evil villain!! Luckily you have a room full of superheroes to put on the case. Before the guests arrive, create a set of clues on note cards with instructions. The superheroes have to follow them to find the missing birthday cake. Each clue should lead the kids to a different part of the house, where another clue is waiting. The final clue should give them instructions on where they can find the missing birthday cake. Make sure that you don't hide the cake where the kids can see it while they passing different parts of the house.
When sending out the invitations, let the children know they must dress up like superheroes. Guests can choose to dress as their favourite characters or make up their own superhero. Once everyone has arrived, have a costume contest with the birthday boy as the judge. Award prizes for most original, funniest costume and best all-around costume.
The kids can also make their own superhero mask as an activity at the party.
